HYDROGEN POWERED LOCOMOTIVE
The BeHydro medium speed engine technology running H2 packages perfectly within standard locomotives.
A hydrogen storage wagon equipped with tanks containing compressed hydrogen can store the necessary energy to replace 3 tons of diesel, thereby saving 10 tonnes of CO2.
The storage wagon can be easily exchanged at the final station for a full one. Using a compressor, the tanks can be directly refilled within 3 hours.
HYDROGEN DUAL FUEL GENSET
40kW Dual Fuel Genset
CMB have developed a hydrogen dual fuel genset capable of 40kW, saving up to 500kg of CO2 per day, displacing diesel on an energy basis up to 60%.
The unit has both 240V outputs and 415V three phase output. It is also available as a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit, giving thermal efficiencies in excess of 70%.
A series of hydrogen gensets are currently under development, with power outputs ranging from 0,7–2,5MW. The system target is to reach diesel displacements of 85% with H2. 100% diesel operation is still possible should infrastructure problem interrupt hydrogen supply.
With 10 containerised skids of pressurised H2, a containerised genset onboard a ship could save 65 tonnes of CO2 on a weekly basis (equivalent to taking 735 cars off the road).
For cold ironing applications, a 100% hydrogen mono fuel genset within a port could save 9 tonnes of CO2 a day whilst all soot, SOx and 95% of the NOx emissions are removed.
24 FEU (forty-foot equivalent unit) low cost containers with pressurised H2 can be used to power the auxiliary engines onboard a ship, thereby saving 135 tonnes of CO2 per voyage.
100% HYDROGEN GENSET
A new ZERO Emissions, 50kW, 100% Hydrogen Genset optimised for combustion efficiency, air quality and emissions is undergoing testing for commercial deployment.
As the power train is zero emissions at the exhaust manifold, complicated and expensive emissions after-treatment systems are not required, saving costs and reducing maintenance.
